Queen’s Speech By TV Writer

LONDON, Dec. 28. A professional writer for television was called in for the first time to write the Queen’s Christmas Day speech, the “Daily Express” reported. But the B.B.C.—which ar ranges for the speech to be broadcast—would not say whr it was, the newspaper said. A Buckingham Palact spokesman said: “We do not discuss who writes wha around here. So far as wr are concerned it was the Queen’s Speech.” Mr Anthony Craxton, whr produced the speech for tele
vision, said: “It was a writer , r who knows the medium of television pretty well—knows , how to phrase things colos quially in short sentences. 1 e think it was the first time the Queen has felt really at home r . with the script.” le Up to now the basics of the io speech have been supplied by a Buckingham Palace official, :e the “Daily Express” said. jt The Prime Minister and the »t Archbishop of Canterbury re vetted the speech as usual this le year, but the Queen and Prince Philip themselves made 10 what alterations they thought e- were necessary.
