Unabated Attacks In Vietnam

DA NANG (South Vietnam), Dec. 28.

United States Marines, attacking again after the Christmas truce, have killed 63 Viet Cong guerrillas in clashes round air bases in the northern part of the country.

In the central area, the Viet Cong today attacked a South Vietnamese outpost at Putrang, 125 miles north of Saigon, killing and wounding several of the 100 defenders, before they withdrew. The Viet Cong left no dead behind. For the fourth day since the start of the 30-hour United States-South Vietnamese truce on Christmas Eve. no American planes bombed North Vietnam Longest Lull This is the longest lull since the six-day suspension of raids last May. There is no indication when they might be resumed again. An American spokesman at this vast air base 375 miles north of Saigon said today that 56 of the guerrillas were killed in two fierce engagements yesterday seven miles from the base. Another 36 Viet Cong were killed yesterday by South Korean units in an operation in Binh Dinh Province, about 150 miles south of Da Nang. Another 250 suspected Viet Cong were detained.
