FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A very deep depression is centred south of New Zealand. Forecast:
Canterbury, Marlborough and Nelson.— Westerly winds, strong in exposed places; showery about the ranges with snow to low levels; elsewhere variable skies with isolated showers, possibly becoming more frequent for a time later in the day; temperatures rather cold. Outlook: Variable skies, with a few showers.
Buller and Westland.—Westerly winds, fresh at times; cloudy and cold with periods of rain. Outlook: Showery.
