New Police District

< - v -2. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 26. A proposed new police dis-trict—-incl tiding Tauranga with headquarters at Rotorua was being considered, the Minister of Police (Mr Allen) 1 said today. His statement was prompted by several inquiries about a possible new district headquarters in the Bay of Plenty district. Mr Allen said a new police station for Tauranga was being the headquarters of a district at some later stage. He explained that present rapid development of the Bay of Plenty region, especially in the Rotorua and Tauranga areas, had caused consideration to be given to forming a new district with Rotorua as the “natural centre."
