‘Apathy’ On Tests

(N.2. Prtu Aiiociation) AUCKLAND, Dec. 22. The apathy of some New Zealanders who should know better over the proposed French nuclear tests in the Pacific amazed him, said the Federation of Labour president (Mr T. E. Skinner), today. There were people well aware of the dangers to health if the tests were allow, ed to go on but they were doing nothing to try to prevent them.

Some people maintained that there were no health hazards from fall-out, said Mr Skinner. If that was the case why had the French Government not continued with testing in the Sahara? The French people refused to have nuclear tests at home because of health hazards.
