Lord Wakehurst, Lord Prior of the Grand Priory of the Order of St. John in Britain, will visit Christchurch on January 28 in the course of a brief New Zealand tour before going to Australia. He will leave the next day by air for Sydney. While he is in Christchurch he will meet local St- John officials. Mr G. J. Seeman, of Lower Hutt, has been appointed secretary of the Law Society in place of Mr F. R. Macken, who is retiring. Mr Seeman will take up his duties at the end of January.—(P.A.). Mr J. B. Mooney, of Alexandra, has been appointed a stipendiary magistrate. The place where he will take up duty will be announced later. He began legal practice in 1948 in Alexandra, where he has taken an active part in community affairs.—(P.A.).
