COMPANY SHIPS

i Paper Mill I Proposal i (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 20. N..Z. Forest Products. Ltd., was considering running its own shipping line, the managing-director of the company (Mr R. H. Smythe) said today. The most serious problem facing the company in its search for export markets was freight charges, said Mr Smythe. Company-owned ships had been under consideration for some time, “but we don’t see any immediate breakthrough.” he said. If two-way trade with Australia developed as a result of the recent free trade agreement, a shipping line could be formed. Australia was looked on as a potential importer of timber products and if duties were removed Forest Products would have a closer look at shipping.
