Anniversary Celebrated (N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, Dec. 20. The 125th anniversary of the landing in the South Island of the Rev. Samuel Ironside and his wife was commemorated at Kakapo Bay, Port Underwood yesterday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Ironside started the work of the Methodist Church in the South Island and the present superintendent of the Blenheim Methodist Circuit, the Rev. C. B. Oldfield, conducted the service. The service was held on the spot where stood the house of Mr James Wynen, who arrived at the bay from Sydney in 1839 and who played an important part in the founding of Marlborough.
