ESCAPER CAUGHT
(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, Dec. 21. The escaped prisoner from New Plymouth prison, Tauria Rewi, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Gisborne this afternoon.
He was caught by the Gisborne police about noon today at Manutuke. He had been at liberty for 12 days. Rewi, aged 30, was remanded to appear again at Napier on January 4 by Mr W. W. Jonasen, J.P, He was charged with escaping from New Plymouth prison on December 9 and with the theft of a motor truck valued at £l5O from Wairoa.
