Will Not Meet Half Cost

A request from the City Council that it meet half the estimated cost of £4889 to pipe St. Albans creek through English Park was not accepted by !the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening. The works committee reported that in 1962, when the estimated cost was £3300, the board had agreed to find £l5OO. The board was told at the time that if piling was needed, the cost would be about £4BOO. It now transpired that piling was needed. The board agreed to adhere to its original decision to find a maximum of £l5OO.
