scene from “Romeo and Juliet," all the figures and the dock being made out of shells.
Greenstone and Maori artfacts from all parts of New Zealand were also on display. Gold in a rare crystal form was the centre-piece of a gold exhibit which included samples of gold taken from the West Coast and Western Australia. A fire opal from New South Wales was also part of this exhibit and it was the most beautiful semi-preci-ous stone on display. On reflecting the light it sparkled a fiery red and luminous green.
The largest entry was of polished stones from Lake Ellesmere. Many that had been made into jewellery were also shown.
