Firmer Trend Shown By Overseas Stocks
Reflecting the slightly brighter market for industrials in Australia, overseas stocks showed a moderately firmer trend in yesterday’s trading on New Zealand stock exchanges, while New Zealand stocks more than held their own. New Zealand Refrigerating featured among the rises with some recovery by the old shares, dividend-deferred shares, and notes. Alex Harvey rose 9d to 325, and New Zealand Refining 3d to 32s 9d, with Auckland sales at 33s 6d. Schofield lost Is 6d to 45s 6d. > Key Australian stocks led the slightly firmer trend. Ansett, 8.H.P., Colonial Sugar, G. J. Coles, Woolworths, and Mount Isa were among the gains. Boral lost 3d to 18s 9d, H. C. Sleigh 2d to 5s 6d, and Woolworths rights Id to 5s 2d.
