Judge Joseph Ford has ordered “modesty panels” across the front of jury boxes to block the Sight of crossed leg* uner creeping skirts.

“It’s downright embarrassing to women to have to sit in open jury boxes with hemlines like they are today,” Judge Ford said. “And it’s distracting to men in the courtroom.” This problem would not arise in the Supreme Court, Christchurch, because the jury boxes are enclosed.
