FORCES IN VIETNAM
Assistant For O.C. CN.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) WASHINGTON. Dec. 20 President Johnson named a deputy commander for the United States forces in Vietnam today. The White House said that this appointment did not indicate any major step toward an expanded military buildup The position, second to General William Westmoreland is a new one. It will be filled by Lieuten-ant-General Jean Englern. now commander of the United States Supply and Maintenance Command in Washington. The new post was created on the recommendation of the Secretary of Defence, Mr Robert McNamara.
