5 Planes Lost

<N' Z. Press Assn—Copyright) SAIGON, Dec. 21. Five American planes were shot down over North Vietnam within 24 hours yesterday and t"day. said a United States military spokesman. It was the war's second worst aircraft loss for a 24hottr period. Four of the planes were lost yesterday and the fifth today, the spokesman said. The toll was the heaviest since “black Sunday” on April 4—when seven United States planes were lost. The spokesman said all were believed to have been shot down by conventional anti-aircraft fire and not the surface-to-air missiles.
