BOMB IN HEDGE

Discovery By Boys (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 20. Four boys found a bomb instead of their lost golf ball in a hedge in Hunter Park at Taita today. Anny explosive experts who checked the bomb, a Second World war three-inch mortar shell, said it was not dangerous. The boys are Christopher Clark, aged 12, and Wayne Cheesman, Glen Belcham, and Bill Walker, all aged 14, of Taita. One of them hit a ball Into a hedge at the side of the park. They found the shell wedged in the hedge. The boys took the bomb to a Taita shop and telephoned the Lower Hutt police.
