Non-Stick Lining For Ovenware

One of the moot useful scientific developments of recent yean, from the housewives’ point of view, is the silicone coating to give saucepans a nonstick lining. The lining washes clean in a swish of soapy water. It stands up to long, low heat for making sauces without any of the ingredients sticking. Even milk can be boated in the saucepans without leaving a hard-to-remove deposit Now the um of the nonstick lining has been extended to an oven-totabie range. Designed by Lord Quronsbury, professor of ceramics at the Royal College of Art, London, the range looks like pottery, but is elegant enough to go straight from oven to the table, and then into the sink for easy cleaning without tedious soaking, scraping or scrubbing.

The range includes casseroles and other oven dishes; matching bowls which can be

used for soup, cereals or puddings; a milk jug that doubles as a sauce boat: and a med-lum-slsed cup intended for either tea or coffee. The inside of the non-ovenwarp la glased to a non-porous finish.

The shapes are sturdy and straight, and the outside surface hu a simple, fluted finish. Made by Midwinter, the non-stick ovenware is available in black and white. The rest of the range is also made in blue or green. A range of bone china, pro-1 duced by another manufacturer, aims to help the housewife from a different angle. "Old country roses," a traditional design in Royal Albert china, is being produced in a wide range with a guarantee of 10 years* minimum availability for replacements when items are broken. The range, in complete tea, dinner and coffee sets, la also sold in place settings or as individual items to enable collections to be assembled.
