CVeu> Zealand Press associations AUCKLAND, Dec. 2(1. Labour’s new leader, Mr N. E. Kirk, has ordered a special committee of caucus to examine the £l4O million De Leuw, Cather plan to solve Auckland’s transport problems.

He announced this on Friday night after taking a stroll up Queen street to see for himself just what the traffic congestion was like. "It took me more than an hour to get through the traffic from Auckland airport this evening,” said Mr Kirk. “Something has got to be done to help Auckland solve its transport problems. i

"This street congestion must be beaten because Auckland's well-being is essential to the economic structure of our whole country.” Mr Kirk said his deputyleader, Mr H. Watt, would tie chairman of the special committee, which would bring down recommendations on ways that Auckland could posIsibly be helped.
