HARBOUR SEWER
Connexions Possible The first section of the Diamond Harbour sewer extension, to Purau road, had been completed and was open for connexion, it was reported to a meeting of ±e Lyttelton Borough Council last evening by the works overseer (Mr F. Davidson). The report said the going had been very hard and about 100 cubic yards of solid had to be either blasted or removed by compressor. The borough health inspector (Mr J. L. O’Callaghan) said in his report he understood householders would be able to connect to the sewer as work progressed. He recommended that a memorandum pointing this out should be left at each household as work progressed. Gm Report—The report of the gas manager (Mr K. D. Walters) Mid 58 tons of coal was carbonised in November this year compared with 60 tons in the Mme month last year. Gas sold was 774,800 cu. ft compared with 864,000 cu. ft in November, 1964. Traffic.—There were two reported accidents in the borough during November and three persons suffered minor injuries, Mid the report of the traffic officer (Mr H. B. Gore). Seven offences were reported.
