Britain’* “bobbies” with their traditional denied helmets and darkblue uniforms may soon appear In a smart Danishstyle leaf-green Outfit with dashing peaked cap. A committee of experts set up by the Home Secretary, Sir Frank Sosklce, will meet soon to discuss a new uniform design.

The police federation, urging a complete break with tradition, Is said to favour a design based on the Danish police uniform. Calling the present uniform of British constables “drab sod badly designed,” a federation spokesman said: “The helmet Is useless as a protection. In the slightest scuffle the thing will fall over your eyes and come off.”
