Dandelion Design
One of the sights of Sydney, the El Alamein Memorial Fountain in King's Cross was possibly inspired by the seed head of a dandelion. The water started to spray in its brilliant style in 1961 when the official opening cere-
mony was performed by the city’s Lord Mayor. The fountain is one of the most spectacular in the world, and its unusual circular shape makes it one unique. There are 200 jets in all, and the fountain uses 500 gallons of water a minute.
