Returning For Titles
. TWO of Canterbury’s * leading athletes, K. Simpson and M. Walls (both Toe H), will return to Christchurch in time for the provincial track and field championships at Rugby Park on February 12 and 19. They are at present competing in Australia in an effort to lift their performances to the point where they will be noticed by the national selectors for the Empire Games. Simpson is the Canterbury long jump champion ' and was third in the national triple jump contest He ia also a fine hurdler and a top class sprinter. Walls is toe present New Zealand 220 yards hurdles champion, a. former Canterbury long jump champion and a sprinter capable of lOsec for the 100 yards. Neither should experience any difficulty in gaining a place 'in the Canterbury team to compete at the New Zealand championships, this MOMNti being held fa Christchurch. *
