HELICOPTERS ARRIVE

Air Force Test Next Week (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 17. Already painted with the R.N.Z.A.F. insignia of a fern leaf in a roundel, three Bell Sioux helicopters were unloaded from a Hercules Cl3O at their new Hobsonville base today. The Hercules had arrived from the Bell factory at Fort Worth, Texas. The helicopter test flying is expected to begin on Monday before a big programme of familiarisation and training The first official demonstration will be held on January 24, and the helicopters will make their first public appearance at the air pageant marking the official opening of Auckland Airport on January 29. Three more Sioux helicopters will arrive in mid-Janu ary to form the light observation helicopter flight of No. 3 Battlefield Support Squadron.
