Crawled Up Bank To Get Help

(New Zealand Pres* Asiociation) WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. A man crawled up a 150 ft bush-covered bank last night to get help for other people in a smashed car at the foot of a cliff.

A few minutes eartier a gust had blown the car off the motorway and over a cliff about half a mile south of the Tawa turn-off. Mr G. Williams, of Warspite avenue, Porirua, cut his fingers to the bone as he clambered up the hill. He was one of five people in the car when it was blown over the diff. Ambulancemen were badly

cut as they scrambled down the cliff in pouring rain to help the injured, who- were dragged up the cliff on special stretchers and rushed to the Wellington Hospital. The car was smashed. The injured were Miss E. Williams, of Porirua, Mr G. Cole, of Newtown, Mrs R. Cole, of Newtown, and Mr J. Thompson, of Porirua, who suffered a fractured spine.
