Golden Eagle Free Again

Goldie, the Finnish eagle which escaped from London Zoo, stayed high above civilisation today, securely established as the city’s public entertainer number one. The golden eagle, three days after his second daring breakout within a year, has inspired a question to be asked in the House of Commons, a petition for his freedom (officially). and the betting odds
support of a leading bookmaker. Goldie appeared ready for a long period of freedom today, while soo officiate—who say the bird is a master-mind —plot his recapture. He stayed up a 60ft tree in Regent’s Part where he wheeled and soared yesterday, watched by admiring fans and photographers. An Opposition member of Parliament is to ask a Government Minister on Monday how he intends to help the zoo catch Goldie “while he is at large in a Royal park.” A Londoner, Mrs Phyllis Macmillan, has organised a petition to give Goldie his freedom.
She said: “The English people have a passion for freedom and this bird obviously wants his freedom too." One of Britain’s biggest bookmakers has opened a book on the chances of Goldie being recaptured by Christmas Eve. The odds quoted by Ladbrokes of London are 6-4 against
