RIGHTS TO BEACH
Ob jections May Be Lodged Attention has been drawn by the secretary of the Canterbury Mineral and Lapidary Club (Mrs A. Niethe) to the fact that objections may be lodged against the granting of mineral rights on Birdlings Flat beach. Two claims for such rights will be heard in the Warden’s Court, Greymouth, on January 26. In a letter to the editor of “The Press,” Mrs Niethe says that because a number of people go to the beach to collect stones and catch fish she feels some publicity should be given to the applications. “The average person will not know that formal objections may be lodged with the registrar, Warden’s Court, Greymouth,” Mrs Niethe says. “If these claims are successful, no-one will be allowed on that part of the beach, for any purpose."
