LINCOLN H.S.

New Principal Appointed Mr E. J. Brewster, at present deputy principal of Burnside High School, has been appointed principal of Lincoln High School in succession to Mr C. M Harris, who retires early next year. Mr Brewster was educated at Southland Boys' High School, the Dunedin Teachers’ College, the Canterbury College, where he took his MA. degree in history and later in geography. His teaching experience has been gained at Christchurch West High

School, Ttanaru Boys* High School, and Linwood High School, where he was head of the history and social studies department In 1960 he was appointed to his present position at Burnside High School. During 1963 he carried out a term as rel ieving inspector of postprimary schools. During World War H Mr Brewster was' commissioned in the R.N.Z.A.F. and served as a navigator, mainly in the European theatre of operations. He has taken a prominent part in parent-teacher activities, in the Secondary Teachers' Association and in the organisation of refresher courses. His outside interests include membership of the New Zeeland Geographical Society, the Canterbury Historical Society, the Bound Table, Heritage, and the R.SA.

Mr Brewster will take up his duties on April 1 next year.
