FORECAST BY NEON
Good Year Expected (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 16. Claude Neon Lights of New Zealand, Ltd., Auckland, expects another successful year, the chairman (Mr W. E. Lewisham) told the annual meeting.
Products met a steady demand during the last year, he said, and at present trading conditions were • similar. Rising overhead costs and the inability of the Auckland factories tc cope fully with demands set by the lighting products, were reasons for the £3650 drop in profit to £70,999 in the year to August 31. Profit was highly satisfactory and turn-over was a record. The contract value of signs again rose, but because profits are calculated on rentals from the signs and not on the sale of rental and maintenance contracts, profits from sales will be fully reflected in subsequent years, rather than the year in which the sales are made. Newspaper Company A new company with a capital of £30,000 has been registered as the Buller-West-land Publishing Company, Ltd., for the purpose of taking over the 101-yaarold “Grey River Argus.” The directors are Mr O. H. Jackson, of Greymouth, chairman. Dr. K. E. Kibblewhite (Cobden), Messrs J. P Kennedy (Greymouth), T. P. O’Regan (Cronadun), J. Thompson (Westport), B. T. Hurley (Ross), and Dr. K. R. Rowley (Hart Hari).
