Four Houses Sold At Auction
A bungalow on a section of 33.7 perches at 8 Marama crescent, St Andrew’s Hill, was sold for £5300 at public auction yesterday.
The first bid was £4500. The auctioneer, Mr G. H. Kissell, then took one bid of £250,. five of £lOO, and one of £5O. The house has two bedrooms, sunroom, lounge, kitchen, laundry, and garage and workshop basement. A six-roomed house at 196 Fitzgerald avenue was sold for £2700. The property was offered on account of the estate of G. H. Clarke by Mr Ray Simes. There is also a garage on the section of 16.7 perches, zoned residential B. The opening bid was £2OOO. There were six bids of £lOO, and two of £5O.
An older-type house and a garage on a section of 27 perches, zoned residential B, at 130 Office road, Merivale, was sold for £2825. The auctioneer was Mr Colin Robertson, who offered the property on account of the Christchurch City Council. The initial bid was £ISOO. There were three bids of £250, one of £IOO, four of £SO, and three of £25. Offered on account of the estate of Jessie Smith, a house on a section of 12 perches, zoned light industrial, waa sold for £I9OO. After accepting the first bid of £IOOO the auctioneer, Mr L. W. Aitken, took eight bids of £IOO and two of £SO. The house has one bedroom, sunroom, living-room, kitchenette, and bathroom.
