N.Z. RACING SEASON
rpHE Shell Book of New Zeax land Motor Racing has appeared at the end of each of the last two motor-racing easons, and the 1965 issue, volume three, has now been published. Again written by Peter Ireenslade, with photographs by Euan Sarginson, it reaches
on high-quality paper by the Pegasus Press, and includes more than 100 photographs, several in colour. Mr Sarginson’s motor-racing photographs are up to his usual very high standard. The editorial material gives all the pertinent details without unnecessary elaboration, and is, as usual, most readable, although cars being “shunted” on the nth “tour" is now becoming rather overdone. The first part of the volume deals with the international races held in New Zealand last season, and a review of the single-seater season is followed by a comprehensive review of the saloon-racing season.
The Renwick, Dunedin and Waimate meetings are fully covered, as is the Wills Sixhour saloon race and the DR national five-hours saloon race. Sports-car racing is reviewed, and there is a section devoted to past and present winners of the Association of New Zealand Car Club’s roadracing gold star award.
FinaUy, there are tables of points awarded in the Tasman championship, the A.N.Z.C.C. 1.5 litre championship, the racing gold star, and the New Zealand Racing Drivers Club championships.
