New Playing Fields
Development of a further area of 40 acres 12 perches of land at Cuthberts Green, the site of the Christchurch Drainage Board’s sewerage treatment plant, to provide playing fields and cricket wickets la likely soon. Agreement has almost been reached between the board and the City Council for the lease of the area at a peppercorn rental.
Some yean ago the board sold the council 22 acres of Cuthberts Green land for Is. It has since been developed to provide for substantial carpark facilities and a stadium and badminton hall have been built on it.
