Permits For £lOO,OOO
Building permits to the value of more than £lOO,OOO were approved by the Lyttelton Borough Council last evening. The major item was £42,000 for the new Water front Industry Commission building. Sunday Fllau—The council granted permission to Masters Enterprises, Ltd., to screen films at Diamond Harbour on Sundays during January, subject to the same conditions as apply in Lyttelton. Taxi Licence-An application for a taxi licence, by Mr A. R. Smith, of Lyttelton, was taken In committee, on the casting vote of the Mayor (Mr J. B. Collett). . Gas Institute Conference— Mr K. D. Walters, manager of the Lyttelton Gas Works, will attend the Gas Institute conference at Oamaru in Febru“Tyttelton Traffic. The traffic committee reported that the present hours spent in the borough by the traffic officer were inadequate, and should be increased. Cr. G. E. Boyd said she wanted it made clear that Lyttelton had an excellent traffic officer, but that a 24-hour coverage was necessary. Cr. W. S. Tredtanick said that the traffic tta bmub.
