Receiver Begins
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. The official receiver for S.P.A.N.Z., Mr L. N. Ross, has begun his investigation into its affairs after his appointment by major creditors, the A.N.Z. Bank, Ltd., and Mobil Oil (N.Z.), Ltd. He said S.P.A.N.Z. services might continue beyond the February 4 date when the airline's present schedules expired. “There is no certainty yet on what the future role of S.P.A.N.Z. aircraft and staff will be,” Mr Ross said. “I would think that S.P.A.N.Z., under its present structure, must cease. For it to continue there would need to be reconstruction. That, however, is outside my province.
“Information is now being prepared for me, and I should be able to make a statement on S.P.A.N.Z.’s affairs in a week or 10 days. “In the meantime, S.P.A.N.Z. employees have been assured of their continued employment, at least until February.”
