RACING Baal Hanan For Beaumont

"The Press" Special Service

DUNEDIN.

Baal Hanan, which has not been further back than fourth in his last six starts, is the likely favourite for the Beaumont Champion Hack Handicap, one of the feature races and the second leg of the double at Beaumont tomorrow.

At Invercargill last week he came from well back to take second place from the promising Bellbridge, which has now cleared hack company.

Baal Hanan has been most prominent and the distance of the Beaumont Champion Hack 10 and a half furlongs, should suit him admirably. He shares the top-weight of 8.12 with the W. E. Hazlettowned and Hillis-trained Careys, which will have her third race for the season.

The Kurdistan mare should show the benefit of those outings and has the ability to feature in the finish. Bell View is another consistent runner which needs only a little luck to regain the winning list. The Bellborough gelding was a good third behind Bellbridge and Baal Hanan in the Tuatapere Handicap at Invercargill and on the first day of the meeting was an unlucky fourth in the distance event for hacks.

Nelson River was an impressive winner in the mile hack event for apprentice riders on

the second day of the Southland meeting and will be another well-supported candidate.
