PROMOTION OF TRADE
Chamber Sets Up Committee
The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce has set up a tradepromotion committee, with Mr M. L. Newman as chairman.
The chamber's president (Mr B. J. Drake) yesterday said that the first idea was to set up a committee to deal with shipping problems. But it was decided to widen the scope of the present exporters’ committee by bringing in representatives of importers and shipping interests.
Mr Drake said that the committee would also be connected with such matters as finance and tax incentives. It was evident, he said, that more vigorous steps must be taken about the Tasman shipping service.
