Testworthy Trimble

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISBANE.

Queensland’s opening bat. S. Trimble, may have played his way into the Australian team to meet England in the first test at Brisbane when he made 140 against Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield game at Brisbane yesterday. At stumps, Queensland on the first day of play was eight for 302. Although Trimble made 140 including 17 fours in 300 minutes, he played a scratchy innings and should have been out at three when B. Shepherd dropped an easy catch. The test batsman P. Burge was at the wickets for 41 minutes to make a poor eight including one four, before he snicked a rising ball from L. Mayne to be caught behind.
