WHARFAGE RATE

Decrease At Wellington

(.V Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. The Wellington Harbour Board will cut its general wharfage rate on inward cargo from 14s to 8s 6d a ton from February 1. The new charge will take effect simultaneously with the new non-wharfinger system.

The board’s chairman, Mr E. R. Toop, said today that the new schedules would remove the 3s 6d a ton increase which came into effect at the beginning of October. It would also involve further reductions amounting to £95.000 a year.
