Firm Wool Prices At Dunedin Sale
(Neu? Zealand Press Association)
DUNEDIN, November 4. The market for fine fleece wools and skirtings at the Dunedin wool sale today was about per cent up on recent rates. There was a greater appreciation for outstanding lines.
Crossbreds were fully firm on Wanganui rates and inclined in sellers' favour. The official report stated that 24.325 bales were offered by six selling brokers. A feature of the offering was the larger than usual proportion of fine wools that were catalogued, compared with other years. There were a number of stylish lines on display, but some of these were handicapped because they were carrying too much vegetable matter. Hogget Wool Hogget wool in general was lacking in length and could have been shorn a little later. In some of the off-sorts there was evidence of mud. but this was mainly confined to the crossbred pieces and bellies. The crossbreds were not quite up to the standard of the previous sale. but. overall. it was a qualitv offering. The continent took the bulk of the offering and had support from Bradford, local mills and Japan. Prompt d’te for the sale is November 23. Official Range The official range of prices is:—
