CONFERENCE DATES
Hotels Suggest Week-ends (From Our Own Reporter) HOKITIKA, Nov. 3. If conferences were held at week-ends, accommodation problems would be eased, the New Zealand Hotel Association told the South Island Local Bodies' Association (when asking it to give a lead to other organisations. The pressure on hotel accommodation by commercial travellers, businessmen and tourists was greater during the week, the Hotel Association wrote. The executive left a decision to the annual conference tomorrow, but members were not keen on the idea. “We are working at our usual occupations all the week and attending to local body affairs all the week, so at least the week-ends should be left to us," said Mr G. Manning (Christchurch). There were lots of smaller conferences that could give a lead, said Mr R. E. Ramshaw (Arrowtown). The association usually met outside the major centres in places where weekday accommodation was not severely taxed.
