10 Miles From Sign Of Kiwi The "Kiwi 10-mile,” « new event in the summer programme of running which has been Introduced this season by the Canterbury Road Runners’ Association, has been strongly supported by a representative cross-section of club athletes. The out and return course, which involved a series of fairly severe gradients, was held from the Sign of the Kiwi along the Summit road in the direction of the Sign of the Bellbird, and proved a testing event as well as a valuable conditioning run. Saturday’s race showed that the winner, R. Alcorn (Methodist), C. F. Reece (St. Martins), and A. Evans (Technical), who challenged the winner on the return run. are in good early-season form. The actual running time of C. F. Reece was the fastest in the race. He began 40sec after the actual starting time of the race. He ran the return lap in 26min 30sec. P. McMillan, who came from Timaru especially for the race, ran well, and was with the leaders until half way.
