POSSESSION OF RIFLE
Seaman Charged (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 1. A young seaman was remanded in custody until next Wednesday when he appeared before Mr F. McCarthy, S.M.. charged with unlawful possession of a .303 rifle. He was lan Murray Hale, aged 17. He was also charged with assaulting William Kepa with intent to injure. His application for bail was opposed by Sergeant M. K. Huggard, prosecuting, and refused by the Magistrate after a discussion in ' chambers. Hale was not represented. Sergeant Huggard said police inquiries had not yet bten completed. There was a possibility of further charges. The charge came after an incident on the Captain Cook wharf shortly before the passenger liner Castel Felice berthed there at 6 o’clock on Friday night
