FLIGHT BY BALLOON

Special Mail To Be Taken The balloon Bernina II will leave the Riccarton racecourse for Ashburton next Sunday afternoon. The Chief Postmaster in Christchurch (Mr J. W. Lincoln) said yesterday that the balloon would carry a special souvenir ptail, which would be delivered to the Ashburton Post Office to be backstamped and sent on in the normal way. Consisting of special postcards produced by the organisers of the flight and sold on behalf of the Plunket Society, the mail would still be delivered to Ashburton even if adverse winds prevented the balloon from reaching its destination. If the flight was prevented by the weather it would be postponed until the next day.
