Horses Came First
The motor-car has revolutionised shopping, and “one stop” centres like the Riccarton Mall would be impossible unless adequate parking space is available. Riccarton Mall does not lack it When the area is fully developed, there will be parking room close to the Mali itself for hundreds of cars. But as a spokesman for the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Ltd., pointed out the provision of parking facilities for their clients has always been a feature of their senice. “We may not have them at Riccarton Mall, but many of our branches were provided with a yard, hitching rails and a water-trough for horses.” he said. “In fact we have only )ust removed the last of them.”
