R. Bank Lifts Lending
Lending by the Reserve Bank to institutions again rose in the week to October 27. According to the bank’s statement of assets and liabilities, Government departments took £3.6m more at £40.6m while trading banks borrowed about another £4.7m more at £16.7m in order to maintain their statutory deposits. Since October 6. advances by the Reserve Bank have risen £30.4m and now stand at £89,7m. Deposits by Government departments rose £l.4m in the latest week and stand at £l2.3tn.
