TO STUDY IN BRITAIN

Fellowship For Lecturer Mr G. J. Wright, a lecturer in chemistry at the University of Canterbury, will leave at the end of this week to take up a Leverhulme visiting fellowship at the University of Sussex for one year. He will pursue his research on organic reaction mechanisms under the direction of Professor C. Eaborn, who was recently in Canterbury as a visiting Erskine fellow in chemistry. Mr Wright was dux of the Napier Boys’ High School, where he won a university national scholarship. At the University erf Canterbury he graduated bachelor of science with honours in 1959, also winning the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry prize and a senior scholarship in chemistry. This was followed by two years post-graduate research in Canterbury as an 1.C.1. fellow.

Mr Wright joined the chemistry department staff in 1962 as an assistant lecturer, was promoted to lecturer in 1963, and this year is completing his doctorate of philosophy in chemistry. His wife and child will accompany him to England.
