TO SEE KILLING

Invited By Board (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Nov. 1. Sanitary conditions in New Zealand slaughterhouses will be inspected by the chairman of the Hawaii Board of Agriculture. Dr. K. K. Otagaki. He has been invited to New Zealand by the Department of Agriculture and the Meat Board which are concerned at the complaints about hygiene in New Zealand meat works made by Hawaiian cattlemen. New Zealand had been exporting meat to Hawaii for some years and Dr. Otagaki said he hoped by coming to New Zealand to settle once and for all the objections of local producers in Hawaii. He will report back to the Board of Agriculture in Hawaii and also submit an unofficial report on his finding to the Department of Agriculture in Washington. United States meat producers have been keeping a wary eye on New Zealand beef sales in Hawaii.
