FIRE BRIGADE CHAMPIONS

Kaiapoi Wins Contest Kaiapoi Fire Brigade became the first North Canterbury brigade ever to win the Canterbury Provincial Fire-Brigade Association annual championships when they were held at Fairlie on Saturday. Eighteen brigades entered the championships. Results were:

Two-man hose and stand pipe (under 21): Geraldine, 13.8, 1; Pleasant Point 2, Fairlie 3. Hose and stand pipe with breeching: Kaiapoi, 50.1, 1; Rangiora 2, Geraldine 3. Four-man motor drill squad: Ternuka, 58.9, 1; Rangiora 2, Ashburton 3. Four-man trailer pump: Kaiapoi, 46.7, 1; Temuka 2, Darfield 3. Four-man laying line and replacing disabled length: Rangiora, 55.2, 1; Kaiapoi 2, Darfield 3. Hose and stand pipe with dividing breeching: Kaiapoi, 60.6, 1; Fairlie 2, Temuka 3. F.W. pump event: Geraldine, 45.9, 1; Darfield 2, Kaiapoi 3. Championships shield: Kaiapoi. 56 points, 1: Rangiora, 46, 2.
