Parliament’s Diary
After sitting past 4 a m. on Saturday to dispose of the committee stages of the News Media Ownership Bill, Parliament reassembled at 10 a.m. and went through all stages of the National Library Bill, which it completed early in the afternoon.
The third reading debate on the News Media Ownership Bill took the rest of the afternoon, but it was passed before the tea adjournment. During the evening, the House went through all the remaining stages of the Marlborough County Council Empowering Bill, the Summit Road (Canterbury) Protection Amendment Bill, the Auckland Regional Authority Amendment Bill No. 2. Uic Tauranga City Council and Electric Power Board Bill, and the Hamilton Domain Endowment Bill.
The rest of the evening was taken up with debate on the Appropriation Bill which was passed. The House adjourned at midnight until 11 a.m. on Monday.
