WOMENS CRICKET Unbeaten Century By J. Stead

The second round of the women’s cricket competition began with an unbeaten century by J. Stead for St. Albans. V. Steere 50 and M. Lawson 43 (Mai Moa) were the other batsbatswomen.

Among bowlers L. Turner, four for 10, and K. Wilkinson, five for 33, were the most sue cessful. Technical v. Western I

Western I batted first on a difficult pitch and were dismissed for 87: J. Witte 27, L. Drummond 22 and J. Dickinson 17. all batted soundly. O. Williams, three for 18, and M. Taylor, two for seven, were the best of the Technical attack.

In reply at stumps, Technical were 93 for seven. Western was somewhat unlucky in its attempt to dismiss Technical E. Flett (23), P. Moore (20) and some solid determined batting by W. Hattersley for 18 not out helped Technical. J. Brown, with two for 39,

bowled extremely well and S. Cowles, two for 18, also helped to keep Technical s score down. Mai Moa v. St. Albans II

Mao Moa, batting first at Malvern Park on a tricky wicket, were all out for 124. M. Lawson scored 43, N. Saunderson 14, L. Turner 13. J. Edmonds 17, L. Motz 14 and N. Motz 10 (which included a six). All batted with aggression. The successful St. Albans bowlers were K. Wilkinson five for 33 and K. Pyatt three for 33. At stumps in reply. St. Albans were seven for 59, Having no counter to the bowling of L, Turner, ,L. Bayliss, who had the excellent figures of four for 10, and A. Giles, two for 23. The young St. Albans player D. Mcßae scored 10 and is proving herself a promising allrounder. St. Alban* I v. Western II St. Albans were sent to bat at Spreydon Domain and declared at four for 210. J. Stead, 103 not out, and V. Steere dominated play and were not separated until the score was 107 after which Stead was associated in further partnerships with A. Malins who scored 22 and P. Blackler (16). L. Hawes, with two for 54, was the successful Western bowler, ably supported by J. Olson.

At stumps. Western in reply were five for three wickets. J. Watson, one for three, and P. Blackler, two for two, bowled well.
