Good Fishing
The Hautapu river running alongside Taihape has produced some big brown trout since the beginning of the present fishing season. Among them were two of 111 b each, one of 9Jlb, another of 9ilb, and many ranging from 7Jlb to 51b. The river was stocked with trout 70 years ago and the local acclimatisation society has continued a vigorous restocking programme in recent years. Officials of the society feel that the present good fishing is the result of the restocking efforts.— (P.A.)
